My fictional character's name is Madeline. She is a psychic/medium who owns a business in Morgantown, where she does seances, palm readings, and Tarot card readings. She is very secretive about her personal life outside of her work; even though she has many loyal customers who come to see her at least once a week, many of them don't even know her last name.
I haven't decided on her back story yet. I'm not sure how she ended up in Morgantown, but this is definitely not her hometown. I'm trying to think of an interesting twist for her history, like maybe she is on the run from someone. There's definitely a reason behind her secretiveness and her affinity for the paranormal. I want to tell the story of her past, with some event setting it into motion so her entire life in Morgantown crumbles because the truth has come to light. I'm hoping I can find a way to work her psychic/medium skills into it as well, so that her business isn't just a hobby but a part of her identity.
Hey this actually sounds pretty cool. For a back story, you could try an abusive boyfriend/girlfriend (idk the sexual orientation of your character) that she had to run away from. Then, you could include her psychic abilities because she could see that the significant other is going to find her, but he his being allusive so the date he will come is undetermined.
ReplyDeleteYour idea seems really interesting, there's a lot that you can do from what you have and it seems fun! I also want my character to be a business owner in morgantown still not completely sure what kind of business but being a psychic is a really cool idea.
ReplyDeleteReally good start to your character! I really like the fact that most of the fictional character blogs I have read will deal with some type of mystery. There are so many ways you could take your story. Maybe she is from Amish Country and is running away from that or she could be running away from the law? I think any path you take on the plot will keep your story very exciting and intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI really like this idea. You could go so many ways with it when you get into your group. I really like this idea of a small business owner in Morgantown. Maybe you could create a fake business and take a picture of a building that you think would look like your character's business and post it on your blog. That could make it seem really believable. You could also make your blog either showing the vulnerable side of your character and give hints and clues about what she is going through, or what she fears. Or you could make your blog kind of a marketing tool for you character's business. I really like your idea for your character because there is so much you can do and so many branches you can go to with your character. I also love your back story idea about being something that will ruin her. I think that's awesome! :)
